September and October are the optimal months to plant fescue. The cooler temperatures in the fall are better suited to developing new seed. The winter months provide a great opportunity for the root system to develop. Spring seeding generally does not work as well due to the summer heat and dry weather. The roots just can’t get deep enough into the ground before it gets too hot.

If you planning on any renovations (rounding up areas, bringing in topsoil, etc), it is time to get started. Removing grassy weeds (Bahia, Dallas, Bermuda) will require 2-3 treatments with round-up, for best results, you will need a week between treatments. If you plan on hiring a landscape contractor for soil and/or grading, do it now and get on the books. With only 6-8 prime weeks, we book up fast.
